How fees work

Here is how paying works at Tres Palmas Dental, in the order most patients ask.

  • If you pay yourself

If you don't have insurance, or your plan doesn't cover what you need, you pay for the visit. Before we start, you get the fee in writing. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

    • Pay on the day of the visit

    • The fee in writing, before we start

    • Third-party financing, set by the lender

  • An estimate in advance

You can ask for a written estimate before any treatment. If you're paying without insurance, we give you a written good faith estimate in advance, when you schedule or whenever you ask. It lists the visit, each step we expect and the fee for each.

    • Written, before treatment

    • Each step and its fee

    • Take it home before you decide

  • Insurance we work with

We're in network with some PPO dental plans and out of network with the rest. Call us with your plan's name and we confirm it before the visit. We don't work with DHMO plans and we aren't enrolled with Medicaid or CHIP. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan with a dental benefit, call us and we'll check it.

    • PPO: in network with some plans

    • DHMO: no

    • Medicaid and CHIP: no

    • Medicare Advantage with a dental benefit: call us

  • Receipts for reimbursement

After each visit we give you an itemized receipt with the procedure codes. You can send it to a plan that reimburses out-of-network care. Whether the plan pays, and how much, is the plan's decision.

    • Itemized, every visit

    • Procedure codes included

  • Checking your benefits

If your plan is in our network, we check your benefits before the visit and tell you what we expect it to pay. It's an estimate, not a promise: the plan decides when it receives the claim. If we're not in your network, call the number on your card and ask what it pays for an out-of-network dentist.

    • We check before the visit

    • An estimate, not a promise

  • What the first visit includes

About an hour: a talk about what worries you, an exam, X-rays only if the dentist needs them and a written estimate before any treatment. Fill in your health history on our private patient portal, not by email or in the contact form.

    • A conversation, then the exam

    • X-rays only if needed

    • Health history on the portal

Ask before you come

If you have a question about a fee, call us. The front desk can give you an idea over the phone before you come.
